The work draws inspiration from the seven-character ancient poem "Bian River Nostalgia in Two Parts" by the Tang Dynasty poet Pi Rixiu: "Among the green silk, ten thousand dragon boats float, all bound for Yangzhou and never to return." From the perspective of the poetic imagery, the myriad dragon boats possess a spatial effect. The design employs repetition as a technique, creating a strong visual impact; extracting the nouns "canal" and "ten thousand dragon boats," and the verb "to carry," the design uses abstract ink strokes of varying lengths and sizes to encapsulate the grand spectacle of ten thousand dragon boats sailing through the Grand Canal. The numerous ink brushstrokes representing sails are integrated with the Chinese character for "canal" in a collaborative design, expressing the scenery of that time and evoking the poet's nostalgic sentiments.
